The method behind the number

A starting point.
With substance.

We review accessible public pages for clear positioning, visible proof and an easy next step. Where available, performance and external visibility data add context.

The beta reports a provisional score with its measurement coverage. Unavailable inputs are excluded, never treated as zero. Scores with different coverage should not be compared directly.

How Carbon turns evidence into strategy ↗
What can a URL actually tell you?

It can show how a business presents its offering, audience, benefits and proof, and whether its website provides useful paths to action. It cannot establish customer loyalty, brand equity, revenue, actual conversion rates or the quality of a product.

How is the score calculated?

Each observed check has a published weight and earns a proportion of its available points. The provisional score is earned points divided by measured points, multiplied by 100. Coverage is the measured share of the full 100-point model. Brand clarity carries 25 points, search visibility 20, AI visibility 15, trust and authority 20, and website experience 20. Expand the evidence in your result to see the checks, weights and sources. We do not assign an overall score with less than 30% coverage.

Does this measure SEO and AI recommendations?

Search rankings, backlink authority and AI recommendation visibility need external datasets. These categories stay unmeasured until supported data is available. Website metadata and structured data are readiness signals; they do not prove rankings or AI visibility. A model assessing your website copy is not an AI-visibility test.

How are client examples scored?

The example buttons run the same assessment as any other URL. They do not use handpicked or inflated grades. These are brands featured in Carbon’s public portfolio; a scan does not measure the results of Carbon’s work.

What happens to my information?

Your score is available without an email address. If you request the full report, Carbon receives your submitted contact details, website, assessment and stated priority for follow-up. Do not enter confidential information. Reports are cached for up to seven days; refreshes of the same website may reuse an assessment collected within the last 24 hours. Read Carbon’s privacy policy.
